Yokohama to Enoshima by Train: Change at Fujisawa or Ofuna, Which of the Three Enoshima Stations, and What It Costs (2026)

Updated 2026-10-27

Yokohama has no train to Enoshima. You change once, and the only decision is where: at Fujisawa, for the Enoden or the Odakyu to the island, or at Ofuna, for the Shonan Monorail. The Fujisawa City Tourist Association puts direct JR trains from Yokohama Station at 30 to 40 minutes to Fujisawa; the Enoden then costs ¥220 to its Enoshima station, and the Shonan Monorail from Ofuna costs ¥340 for 14 minutes. Three different stations carry the name Enoshima, ten minutes apart on foot, and picking the right one saves more time than the choice of train. Private-railway fares below come from the operators' pages, checked 2026-10-27. JR East's fare pages still turn our checker away, so the JR leg is the one fare you read off the gate.

Route map from Yokohama to Enoshima. JR from Yokohama Station through Ofuna to Fujisawa, 30 to 40 minutes, fare paid at the gate; trains bound for Odawara, Atami or Kozu stop at Fujisawa, Yokosuka Line trains stop at Ofuna only. From Fujisawa: Enoden to Enoshima station, 220 yen, child 110 yen, aquarium 10 minutes on foot; Odakyu Enoshima Line to Katase-Enoshima, fare at the gate, child IC 50 yen, aquarium 3 minutes on foot. From Ofuna: Shonan Monorail to Shonan-Enoshima, 340 yen, child 170 yen, 14 minutes, aquarium 10 minutes on foot. Minatomirai Line to Yokohama Station 200 yen from Minatomirai or Bashamichi and 230 yen from Motomachi-Chukagai. Enoden continues from Enoshima to Hase and Kamakura, where JR returns to Yokohama.
Dashed blue is JR, paid at the gate. The three solid lines end at three different Enoshima stations, stacked north to south.

Fujisawa or Ofuna?

Change at Second train Fare for the second train Where you arrive
Fujisawa Enoden, 5 stops to Enoshima ¥220 (child ¥110) Enoden Enoshima station, 10 min on foot to the aquarium
Fujisawa Odakyu Enoshima Line, 3 stops to Katase-Enoshima at the gate by IC card (child IC ¥50) Katase-Enoshima, 3 min on foot to the aquarium and nearest the bridge
Ofuna Shonan Monorail, 14 min to Shonan-Enoshima ¥340 (child ¥170) Shonan-Enoshima, 10 min on foot to the aquarium

Go through Fujisawa unless the monorail itself is the attraction. Both of its trains land closer to the island, the Enoden fare is the lowest of the three, and from Fujisawa the Enoden runs on to Kamakura if you want it later. Ofuna is the natural change only if your JR train is a Yokosuka Line train, which never reaches Fujisawa, or if your children would rather ride a monorail that hangs under its track. The monorail's own site counts Ofuna → Shonan-Enoshima at 14 minutes without transfer time and calls itself the fastest way from Ofuna.

Which JR train at Yokohama Station?

JR fare: tap a Suica or PASMO at Yokohama and the fare comes off at Fujisawa or Ofuna. JR East changed its fares on 14 March 2026 and its fare tables have not opened for us since, so I print no JR figure. Children aged 6 to 11 pay half on every railway on this page.

Three stations called Enoshima

The island sits at the end of a bridge from the mainland, and three railways stop near its foot, each at its own station. The Enoshima Aquarium's access page gives the walking times, and it stands next to the bridge, so its minutes are a fair guide to the island too.

Station Railway Walk to the aquarium Use it when
Katase-Enoshima Odakyu Enoshima Line 3 minutes you want the shortest walk to the aquarium and the bridge
Enoshima Enoden 10 minutes you came by Enoden, or you continue to Kamakura afterwards
Shonan-Enoshima Shonan Monorail 10 minutes you came through Ofuna

The Enoden and monorail stations are a short street apart, and Katase-Enoshima is a little further towards the sea. On a day from Yokohama you will probably arrive at one and leave from another, and that is fine: each has its own ticket gate and none of the fares depend on the other.

Does any pass pay from Yokohama?

No, and that is the useful part. Every pass sold for this coast is built around a round trip on one private railway, and from Yokohama you ride each of them once.

Ticket table of what you pay besides the JR fare, per person, from Yokohama. Via Fujisawa, Enoden there and back: 440 yen adult, 220 yen child. Via Ofuna, monorail there and back: 680 yen adult, 340 yen child. Triangle Fujisawa to Enoshima to Kamakura by Enoden, then JR home from Kamakura: 480 yen adult, 240 yen child. The same triangle with a Great Buddha stop at Hase: 680 yen adult, 340 yen child. Back to Fujisawa by Enoden after a Hase stop: 990 yen adult, 500 yen child. Compared with the Enoshima-Kamakura Freepass from Fujisawa, 810 yen adult, 410 yen child, and the Enoden Noriorikun 1-day pass, 800 yen adult, 400 yen child. Only the last plan reaches the pass prices.
Four of the five plans stay under ¥700 of private-railway fares. Only going back to Fujisawa with a Hase stop crosses the ¥800 line.
Plan from Yokohama (besides the JR fares) Adult Child 6–11
Via Fujisawa, Enoden there and back ¥440 ¥220
Via Ofuna, monorail there and back ¥680 ¥340
Triangle: Fujisawa → Enoshima → Kamakura by Enoden, JR home from Kamakura ¥480 ¥240
Triangle with a Great Buddha stop at Hase ¥680 ¥340
Enoden back to Fujisawa after a Hase stop ¥990 ¥500

The Enoden pass guide and the Enoshima and Kamakura calculator do the same sums for days that start in Shinjuku, where the answer flips.

The Kamakura triangle

The best shape for a Yokohama day is a triangle, not an out-and-back. Out by JR to Fujisawa, the Enoden to Enoshima, the Enoden on to Kamakura along the sea, and JR from Kamakura straight back to Yokohama, which the Kamakura City Tourist Association counts at about 30 minutes. You never retrace a line and the two Enoden tickets come to ¥480. The Enoden's access page gives Kamakura → Fujisawa as 34 minutes, so the whole Enoden part is a little over half an hour of riding plus your stop at Enoshima. Add Hase for the Great Buddha and the Enoden total becomes ¥680 (Enoshima → Hase ¥260, Hase → Kamakura ¥200).

Done the other way round, Kamakura first and Enoshima second, you end at Fujisawa and take JR home from there; the Enoden fares are the same. The Kamakura to Enoshima guide covers that leg stop by stop, and the Yokohama to Kamakura guide has the Yokosuka Line detail for the JR end.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a direct train from Yokohama to Enoshima?

No. JR reaches Fujisawa and Ofuna, and three private railways cover the last few kilometres: the Enoden and the Odakyu from Fujisawa, the Shonan Monorail from Ofuna. One change, whichever you pick.

How long does it take from Yokohama to Enoshima?

The Fujisawa City Tourist Association gives 30 to 40 minutes for the direct JR trains from Yokohama, Kannai and Sakuragicho to Fujisawa. The monorail adds 14 minutes from Ofuna by its own count. Neither operator publishes a Yokohama-to-Enoshima total, and the Enoden and Odakyu do not list their Fujisawa minutes on the pages we can read, so plan on about an hour door to door with the change.

Can I use a Suica or PASMO the whole way?

Yes. The Enoden's access page says IC cards work on its trains, the Shonan Monorail lists the same fares for cash and IC, the Minatomirai Line publishes IC fares, and JR East issues Suica itself. You tap out and in again at Fujisawa or Ofuna. On the Odakyu a child's IC fare is a flat ¥50 for any distance.

Which Enoshima station is closest to the island?

Katase-Enoshima on the Odakyu: the aquarium, which stands by the bridge, is 3 minutes from it against 10 minutes from the Enoden's Enoshima station and from Shonan-Enoshima. If you arrive on the Enoden, the walk takes you past the Odakyu station anyway.

Is the aquarium open when I get there?

From 24 September to 30 November 2026 the Enoshima Aquarium opens 9:00 to 17:00 with last entry at 16:00, and from 1 December it opens at 10:00 on most days; its current hours table shows a closure from 18 to 24 January. Door prices are ¥2,800 for adults, ¥1,800 for high-school students, ¥1,300 for elementary and junior-high pupils and ¥900 from age 3.
