Hakone Gora Park Tickets: ¥650 Entry, Free with the Freepass, Hours and the Cable Car Stop (2026)

Updated 2026-10-12

Short answer: Hakone Gora Park costs ¥650 for adults. Children of elementary school age and younger enter free, and the park is free with the Hakone Freepass, the Nonbiri Kippu (Tozan Train 1-day pass) and the Owakudani Kippu. It is open 9:00–17:00 from March to November (last entry 16:30) and 9:30–16:30 from December to February (last entry 16:00). The park sits on the slope between two cable car stations: Koen-shimo (Main Gate) and Koen-kami (West Gate). If you pay single fares, getting off at Koen-shimo, walking up through the park and getting back on at Koen-kami costs ¥340 to Sounzan, less than the ¥430 straight-through fare. Information from the park's official pages and the Hakone Tozan fare table on Hakone Navi, checked 2026-10-12.

A day plan with Gora Park

  1. Romancecar or Odakyu from Shinjuku to Hakone-Yumoto, then the Tozan Train to Gora (about 40 minutes). See Romancecar tickets.
  2. Optional: the Hakone Open-Air Museum at Chokoku-no-mori, one stop before Gora.
  3. Cable car to Koen-shimo or Koen-kami, then Gora Park. Arrive at Hakuun-do before 11:30 or 15:30 if you want tea.
  4. Cable car on to Sounzan, ropeway to Owakudani and Togendai (see Hakone Ropeway and Owakudani).
  5. Pirate ship to Moto-Hakone-ko. The last boat from Togendai leaves at 16:25 (until 30 November), so do not stay in the park too long if you want the full loop.

The whole loop in order, with ride times and last departures, is in our Hakone day trip itinerary.

Frequently asked questions

How much is Hakone Gora Park?

¥650 for adults. Children of elementary school age and younger enter free. Groups of 20 or more pay ¥400 each, and disability certificate holders pay ¥300 (one carer also ¥300). Official park page, checked 2026-10-12.

Is Gora Park free with the Hakone Freepass?

Yes. Show the Hakone Freepass (paper or digital) at the window and entry is free. The Nonbiri Kippu and the Owakudani Kippu also give free entry. The Freepass also covers the cable car to Koen-shimo and Koen-kami.

What are Hakone Gora Park opening hours?

March to November 9:00–17:00, last entry 16:30. December to February 9:30–16:30, last entry 16:00. The park closes only on 1 January, the third Monday of January and the second Monday of May for maintenance.

Which station is closest to Gora Park?

Koen-shimo on the Hakone Tozan Cable Car is closest to the Main Gate. Koen-kami is closest to the West Gate, and from there the walk through the park is downhill. Both are one or two stops above Gora.

Can I leave Gora Park and come back?

Yes, the same day or the next day. Show your receipt at the window. This does not apply to the combined Gora Park and Hakone Museum of Art ticket.

When do the roses bloom at Gora Park?

Spring roses from late May to late June and autumn roses from mid October to early November. In 2026 the autumn roses were about 30% open on 8 October, with free concerts on weekends and holidays until 3 November.

Can I bring a stroller or wheelchair?

The park says wheelchairs and baby strollers cannot be used, because there are many steep slopes and stairs. If you visit with small children or older people, enter at the West Gate (Koen-kami) so the walk is downhill.
