Kirin Brewery Yokohama Tour: ¥1,000 Price, How to Book, Tasting and Access (2026)

Short answer: The Kirin Brewery Yokohama tour (キリンビール横浜工場) costs ¥1,000 per person aged 20 and over for tours from 1 October 2026 (it was ¥500 until September). Under 20s join free, but only with an adult. The tour takes about 90 minutes: 65 minutes in the brewery and 25 minutes of tasting, with one Ichiban Shibori and up to two refills. You must book online and pay by card in advance; bookings for a month open at 8:00 on the 1st of the month before. The guide speaks Japanese only. Take the Keikyu Line to Namamugi (¥320 from Shinagawa, ¥180 from Yokohama) and walk about 15 minutes. Closed on Mondays. Tour price

• Kirin raised the fee at all nine of its beer breweries from 1 October 2026, saying the tasting menu will be expanded.
• Adults pay ¥1,000 even if they don't drink alcohol. Drivers get non-alcoholic beer-taste drinks instead.
• Entry to the site is free. You only pay for the tour. The factory shop can be used without a tour, but there is no tasting.

Which tour to book

The Yokohama brewery runs one tour, "Kirin Ichiban Shibori Oishisa Jikkan Tour" (キリン一番搾りおいしさ実感ツアー), in two versions. Kirin says the content is the same:

Travelling with children or teenagers? Book the regular version. Adults only? Either works; pick the one with a free slot.

What happens on the tour

• About 90 minutes: about 65 minutes of brewery tour and 25 minutes of tasting. Start times are between 10:00 and 15:00. Up to 30 people per tour.
• You learn how Ichiban Shibori is made, touch the raw materials and compare the first-press and second-press wort (the sweet liquid before it becomes beer).
• If the packaging line is not running that day, it is shown on video instead.
• Tasting: first a glass of Kirin Ichiban Shibori, then up to two refills chosen from Ichiban Shibori, Kuro Nama (black), Premium and White Beer (contains wheat malt). The line-up can change.
• Language: the guide speaks Japanese only. Kirin says the videos at its beer breweries have English subtitles.

How to book

1. Booking opens at 8:00 (Japan time) on the 1st of the month before. On 1 November you can book tours up to 31 December; on 1 December, up to 31 January, and so on.
2. Book and pay online on Kirin's reservation site (linked from the official tour page). Since tours in April 2026, payment is by credit card at the time of booking: Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express or Diners Club. You cannot just turn up and pay.
3. Changes and cancellations: use the link in your confirmation email (you need the booking ID and your email address) until 30 minutes before the tour starts. Cancel by then and the fee is refunded. After that, no refund.
4. If you don't cancel and don't show up, Kirin may refuse your future bookings.

Other booking rules from Kirin:

• One booking at a time: you can make a new booking only after the date of your current one has passed.
• A tour that serves alcohol is once per person per day.
• Kirin may email or call to confirm your booking. Make sure mail from kirin.co.jp is not blocked.
• The phone line (0570-055898, a Japanese navi-dial number) cannot take bookings or cancellations and does not work from outside Japan. Use the online form for questions.

Who can't drink the beer

Kirin does not serve alcohol to:

• anyone who will drive a car, motorbike or bicycle at any time that day, including passengers in that car (even pushing a bicycle home counts),
• anyone under 20 (the drinking age in Japan),
• anyone pregnant or breastfeeding.

They get soft drinks or non-alcoholic beer-taste drinks. Kirin says it calls the police if someone drives after drinking. This is a good reason to come by train.

Opening days

• Closed on Mondays. When Monday is a national holiday, the brewery is open and closes on the next weekday instead.
• Also closed over the New Year holidays and on some other days. Check the calendar on the booking site.
• Tours run on Saturdays and Sundays, but the packaging line may not be running.
• In bad weather or after a disaster the brewery may close; Kirin posts notices at the top of the Yokohama brewery page.

How to get there

The brewery is at 1-17-1 Namamugi, Tsurumi-ku, Yokohama, between Kawasaki and Yokohama.

Walking from Namamugi Station (Kirin's directions): go straight along the shopping street to the main road (Route 15, Daiichi Keihin), turn right at the Namamugi-eki-iriguchi crossing, follow Route 15 and enter at the Welcome Gate on your left. • Namamugi is a small station and not every Keikyu train stops there. Check the train type on the platform screen, and change at Keikyu Kawasaki if needed.
• Taxi: about 10 minutes from JR Tsurumi Station, or about 20 minutes from JR Yokohama Station.
• Coin lockers at the brewery (the ¥100 coin comes back).
• The "Kirin-bin" boat from central Yokohama is suspended for now.

Food and shopping at the brewery

• Kirin Yokohama Beer Hall (キリン横浜ビアホール): a red-brick beer hall with food made with Kanagawa produce.
• Beer Port (ビアポート): all-you-can-eat grilled meat and Genghis Khan (lamb) barbecue with fresh Ichiban Shibori.
• Kirin Factory Shop: factory-only goods such as a beer set with a miniature case, T-shirts and tumblers.
• You can't bring your own food or drink, and you can't eat in the grounds (including the garden) outside the restaurants. The restaurants keep their own closing days, listed on Kirin's restaurant page.

Fitting it into a Yokohama day

Namamugi is on the same Keikyu Line that runs from Shinagawa to Yokohama, so the brewery fits on the way to central Yokohama.
