Fitting a bath into the day

The usual Hakone loop ends back at Hakone-Yumoto in the late afternoon (see our Hakone day trip itinerary). Budget about 2 hours for a bath: getting there, bathing, cooling down and getting back. A bath before the train home is the classic finish.

Going only to Hakone-Yumoto for a bath? Then the Hakone Freepass is usually not worth it. Single tickets are cheaper; check with the Hakone Freepass calculator. The Romancecar seat from Shinjuku is ¥1,200 per adult each way on top of the fare; see Hakone Romancecar tickets.
