Opening hours and the best time to arrive
- Lights on from 16:00 (may shift with sunset).
- Closing time: 20:30 on most days, 21:00 on 14 Nov, 21 Nov, 22 Nov, 28 Nov, 5 Dec, 6 Dec, 12 Dec, 13 Dec, 19 Dec, 20 Dec, 24 Dec, 25 Dec, 26 Dec, 27 Dec, 28 Dec, 29 Dec, 30 Dec, 31 Dec. Last entry is 30 minutes before closing.
- About 20 of the about 30 rides stop at 16:00: the last person in the queue boards at 16:00, so with a 1-hour queue the line closes at 15:00. With a night free pass, the rides you can use after dark are the night attractions (the light-up ones such as the Ferris wheel, Magical Wave and the rainbow lift).
- The pair lift is free from 16:00. The park is on a steep hillside: if you cannot use the lift (wheelchairs cannot), the walking route is as steep as an intermediate ski slope.
- It is open in the rain. It is in the hills west of Tokyo, so dress for cold evenings.
- Re-entry is allowed: show your ticket when you come back in.
Getting there from Tokyo
By train and bus
- Take the JR Chuo Line from Shinjuku toward Takao. At Takao, continue one stop toward Kofu to Sagamiko Station (相模湖駅). Some trains need a change at Takao.
- From bus stop 1 in front of Sagamiko Station, take the Kanachu bus for Mikage (三ケ木). Get off at Sagamiko MORI MORI-mae (さがみ湖MORI MORI前), about 8 minutes.
- Back: same stop, bus for Sagamiko Station.
- Bus fare: adult ¥230–¥260 one way. Kanachu's fare table (from 4 April 2026) lists ¥230 from Sagamiko Station to Arashiyama and ¥260 to Sekirosan-iriguchi; the MORI MORI-mae stop is between the two. The calculator uses ¥260 to be safe. Children pay half (cash), or a flat ¥50 with a child IC card. Pay with Suica or PASMO.
- JR fare: we could not open JR East's fare tables when we checked, so we do not show a number here. The ticket machine at Shinjuku or any route app shows the fare to Sagamiko; enter it in the calculator to get your total.
- Check the last bus back on the Kanachu timetable (stop: さがみ湖MORI MORI前) and JR's trains from Sagamiko before you go. The park's access page also posts the bus timetable.
- From Keio Line / Hashimoto: from Hashimoto Station North Exit, bus for Mikage (about 40 minutes), then change at Mikage to the bus for Sagamiko Station via MORI MORI (about 10 minutes).
- Seasonal direct tour buses from the city were "coming soon" on the official access page when we checked.
By car
About 50 minutes from Shinjuku (Chuo Expressway, Sagamiko-higashi exit about 7 minutes away). Parking: ¥1,000-1,500 on weekdays, ¥1,500-2,000 on weekends, holidays and peak days (motorbike ¥500). Weekend evenings are busy; the park recommends trains or buses. If the Kobotoke Tunnel on the Chuo Expressway is jammed, the park suggests the Ken-O Expressway to Takaosan IC and Route 20.
Good to know
- Strollers, wheelchairs and pet carts can be rented at the entrance for ¥1,000 each (limited numbers). On the lifts, fold the stroller (one per adult).
- Combine with Mt. Takao: Sagamiko is the next JR stop after Takao. Hike in the morning, then take the train one stop for the lights. See the Mt. Takao day trip calculator.
- There is a hot spring (Sagamiko Onsen Ururi) at the same resort; check its own price page.
