For transport, per adult: ¥1,840 with the cable car or chair lift both ways (Keio round trip ¥860 + ¥980 round trip), ¥1,350 if you ride one way and hike the other, and ¥860 if you hike both ways. Children (6–11) pay ¥940, ¥690 and ¥440. Food is extra.

Is the Mt. Takao Ticket worth it?

Yes if you take the cable car or chair lift at least once. Keio takes 20% off both the train round trip and the ride up the mountain, about ¥370 per adult with a round-trip ride and about ¥270 with a one-way ride. It is not for you if you hike both ways, because every version includes a ride.

Neither. Both cost ¥490 one way and ¥980 round trip (child ¥250 and ¥500). The cable car takes about 6 minutes, the lift about 12. The lift stops earlier: last ride 16:30 on weekdays from May to November and 16:00 from December to April. The last cable car from September to November is 17:45 on weekdays and 18:00 on weekends.

Where do I buy the Mt. Takao Ticket?

At the ticket machines of any Keio or Inokashira Line station except Takaosanguchi, on the day you travel. A digital version is sold on Keio's TAMa-GO e-ticket site. It is not sold from 31 December to 3 January.

How much is the Mt. TAKAO reserved-seat train?

The seat costs ¥400 online (Keio Ticketless Service) or ¥500 at a ticket machine, the same for children, on top of your fare. The Mt. Takao Ticket counts as the fare. It runs on weekends and holidays only: from Shinjuku at 10:00 and 11:00, back from Takaosanguchi at 14:15, 15:15, 16:15, 17:15. Boarding without a seat ticket costs ¥1,000 on the train.
