On the island, junior high and high school students pay the adult price. Only the aquarium and the Area Passport have separate high school and junior high prices. The official ticket pages do not list a price for preschool children at the island spots, so they are not counted here (the aquarium charges ¥900 from age 3; the boat is free for age 5 and under).

From our own visit

On Enoshima we had shirasu-don: a rice bowl topped with shirasu (tiny whitebait), the local specialty. We do not remember the name of the shop, so we cannot recommend a specific one.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Enoshima Escar?

¥500 per adult and ¥250 per elementary school child for all three sections. It goes uphill only and takes about 5 minutes to the top; the stairs take about 20 minutes and are free. To come down, you walk.

How much are the Enoshima Iwaya Caves?

¥500 for junior high school age and older and ¥200 for elementary school children. The caves are at the far end of the island and open from 9:00 to 17:00, with hours that change by season. The Iwaya + Sea Candle Set (¥1,110) and the Enoshima 1day (¥1,550) include the caves.

How much is the Enoshima Sea Candle?

¥800 per adult and ¥400 per child. The tower stands inside the Samuel Cocking Garden, which is free in the daytime. On event nights the garden charges ¥500 after 17:00, so a +Night ticket can be cheaper.

Is the Enoshima 1day ticket worth it?

Yes, if you ride the escar and visit both the Sea Candle and the Iwaya Caves: ¥1,550 instead of ¥1,800 per adult (save ¥250), and ¥700 instead of ¥850 per child. If you walk up the stairs, the Iwaya + Sea Candle Set (¥1,110) is cheaper. If you skip the caves, the Sea Candle Set (¥1,100) is cheaper.

Is the Enoshima-Enosui Area Passport worth it?

If you go to the aquarium too, yes. The aquarium alone is ¥2,800 per adult. With the escar, Sea Candle and caves, single tickets come to ¥4,600; the Area Passport is ¥3,940, a saving of ¥660. Without the aquarium, it costs more than you save.

Can I take the boat back from the Iwaya Caves?

Yes, the Benten-maru runs from Chigogafuchi, near the caves, to Benten Bridge in about 6 minutes for ¥500 (¥200 child, cash only). It runs only around midday and stops in strong wind, high waves or low tide, so check on the day after 10:30. It is not included in any of the set tickets.
