Kamakura Buses: Which Stop at Kamakura Station, Fares, Suica and the ¥900 Pass (2026)

Updated 2026-10-27

Every tourist bus in Kamakura leaves from the East Exit of Kamakura Station, from seven numbered stops run by two companies. Enoden Bus uses stops 1 and 2 (Great Buddha, Kenchoji, Meigetsuin, Fujisawa, Ofuna); Keikyu Bus uses stops 3 to 7 (Hachimangu, Hokokuji's bamboo garden, Kamakura-gu, and a second route to the Great Buddha from stop 6). On Enoden Bus the rides you are likely to take all cost ¥240 per adult, cash or IC, and a child with a child IC card pays a flat ¥50. You board by the middle door, tap Suica or PASMO (or take a numbered ticket), and pay at the front when you get off. The ¥900 Kamakura Free Kankyo Tegata covers the Enoden train to Hase plus these buses, but it only beats single fares from the fourth ride of the day. Fares below are from Enoden Bus's official table valid from 11 May 2026, read on 2026-10-27; we could not open Keikyu Bus's fare pages, so for Keikyu rides we give the stop and the time, not the price.

Kamakura Station East Exit bus stops. Stop 1, Enoden Bus F11, K1, K11, K3: Hase-Kannon and Daibutsu-mae for the Great Buddha, 240 yen; F11 on to Fujisawa Station 420 yen. Stop 2, Enoden Bus N2: Hachimangu-mae, Kenchoji and Meigetsuin 240 yen, on to Ofuna Station 310 yen; K5 to Shichirigahama 330 yen. Stop 4, Keikyu Bus: Hachimangu and Jomyoji for Hokokuji, fare on the bus display. Stop 6, Keikyu Bus: Daibutsu-mae, fare on the bus display. Stops 3, 5 and 7: other Keikyu Bus routes. A child with a child IC card pays a flat 50 yen on Enoden Bus. The Kamakura Free Kankyo Tegata costs 900 yen and pays off from 4 rides. Enoden Bus fares valid from 11 May 2026, checked 2026-10-27.
Stops 1 and 2 are Enoden Bus, 3 to 7 are Keikyu Bus. The Great Buddha has a bus at both companies: stop 1 and stop 6.

Kamakura-gu (Otonomiya), Zaimokuza, Zushi side 3, 5, 7 Keikyu Bus read the sign at the stop shown on the bus

Stop numbers for the Great Buddha and Hokokuji come from the temples' own access pages; the Enoden Bus numbers come from the company's route map. Enoden Bus's K6 and K7 routes leave from the West Exit, but they serve housing areas, not sights.

Two things the table hides:

How to ride and pay

Kamakura is in Enoden Bus's "Shonan area", so the buses work the way most Japanese local buses do:

  1. Board by the middle door. Tap your Suica, PASMO or other IC card on the reader, or take the small numbered ticket if you pay cash.
  2. Watch the fare board above the driver. The number on your ticket points to the fare you owe when you get off. From Kamakura Station it stays at ¥240 for the stops most visitors use.
  3. Get off at the front. Tap the card again, or drop the ticket and the exact fare in the box. The box gives change, but ¥5,000 and ¥10,000 notes are not accepted, so break them before you board.
  4. Press the button when your stop is announced.

Keikyu Bus runs the same way (take a ticket or tap, pay on exit). Its fares show on the display too; we could not confirm them on the company's pages from here, which is why they are missing above.

Child fares on Enoden Bus (official table):

Who What they pay
Under 1 Free
Age 1 to 5 Free, up to two children per paying passenger. A third child pays the child fare
Age 6 to 11, cash Half the adult fare, rounded to ¥10: ¥120 on a ¥240 ride
Age 6 to 11, child IC card Flat ¥50 a ride, whatever the distance
Age 6 to 11 on an adult's IC card Half the adult IC fare, rounded to ¥1

That ¥50 rule changes the pass math for families, as shown below. A child IC card (a Suica or PASMO issued for a child at a station counter) is worth getting if you have more than a couple of bus days in Japan.

Every Enoden Bus fare from Kamakura Station

The company's fare table lists the last stop of each fare step. Cash and IC fares are the same for adults, and the table has been valid since 11 May 2026.

Route Stops in order from Kamakura Station Adult fare
F11, K1, K11, K3 (stop 1) Rokujizo-mae, Hase-Kannon, Daibutsu-mae, Daibutsu-zaka ¥240
Tokiwa-guchi ¥260
F11 Fukasawa ¥300
F11 Tebiro ¥320
F11 Goryo-jinja-mae ¥360
F11 Fujisawa Station ¥420
N2 (stop 2) Hachimangu-mae, Kenchoji, Meigetsuin ¥240
N2 Kita-Kamakura, Kosaka-shogakko-mae ¥280
N2 Jorakuji ¥300
N2 Ofuna Station ¥310
K5 (stop 2) Rokujizo-mae, Hase-Kannon ¥240
K5 Shiei-pool-mae ¥260
K5 Ubagayatsu ¥300
K5 Shichirigahama ¥330

Kita-Kamakura's bus stop comes just after Meigetsuin on the N2, so it falls in the ¥280 step of the table. If Kita-Kamakura is your destination, the JR train from Kamakura is one stop, and the temples there are walkable from the station: see Kita-Kamakura's five temples.

The ¥900 pass: Kamakura Free Kankyo Tegata

The Kamakura Free Kankyo Tegata (鎌倉フリー環境手形, "Kamakura Free Environment Pass") costs ¥900 for adults and ¥450 for children and is sold at the Enoden ticket counters at Kamakura Station (7:00–17:00) and Hase Station (the English page says from 10:00). It covers, on the day you buy it:

Does it pay off? Four real days, one adult

Day plan Rides Single fares Pass ¥900
Bus to the Great Buddha, walk to Hasedera, Enoden back from Hase 2 ¥240 + ¥200 = ¥440 singles save ¥460
Enoden to Hase and back, bus to Meigetsuin and back 4 ¥200 + ¥200 + ¥240 + ¥240 = ¥880 singles save ¥20
Bus to the Great Buddha, Enoden back, bus to Kenchoji and back 4 ¥240 + ¥200 + ¥240 + ¥240 = ¥920 pass saves ¥20
Bus to Hokokuji and back (Keikyu), bus to the Great Buddha, Enoden back 4 ¥240 + ¥200 + two Keikyu fares pass wins if the two Keikyu rides total ¥460 or more

So the pass is a 4-ride ticket. A day with the Great Buddha, Hokokuji and one of the Kita-Kamakura temples by bus reaches it; a day with the Great Buddha and a lot of walking does not. The convenience counts for something too: no tickets, no coins, and you can hop off at Hachimangu-mae on the way.

For children it almost never pays. The child pass is ¥450, but a child with a child IC card pays ¥50 a bus ride and ¥100 for the Kamakura–Hase train, so the 4-ride days above cost ¥250 to ¥300 in single fares. Only a child paying cash (¥120 a bus ride) gets close.

The other passes, for comparison

Pass Adult / child Covers Verdict for a bus day
Kamakura Free Kankyo Tegata ¥900 / ¥450 Enoden Kamakura–Hase + Enoden and Keikyu buses in the zone buy from 4 rides
Enoden Bus "Noritabi" 1-day ticket ¥800 / ¥400 All Enoden Bus routes (not Keikyu, not the train). Digital only, in the EMot app, from 7 days ahead needs 4 Enoden Bus rides at ¥240 to save ¥160; rarely worth it for a sightseeing day
Enoden 1-day pass "Noriorikun" ¥800 / ¥400 Enoden trains only, Fujisawa to Kamakura the pass for an Enoshima day, not a bus day. See Noriorikun: is it worth it?

The Odakyu Enoshima-Kamakura Freepass from Shinjuku does not cover any bus either. If your day mixes Kamakura temples with Enoshima, the math is in Kamakura and Enoshima day trip: cost.

Bus, Enoden or walk?

Sight Bus from the East Exit The other way Our pick
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu stop 2 or 4, ¥240 on Enoden Bus about 10 minutes on foot up Wakamiya-oji walk
Great Buddha stop 1 or 6, about 10 min to the gate Enoden to Hase, ¥200, then 7 minutes on foot bus there; Enoden back if you also see Hasedera
Hasedera stop 1, Hase-Kannon, ¥240 Enoden to Hase, ¥200 Enoden
Hokokuji stop 4, about 12 min + 3 min on foot taxi, about 7 minutes (the temple's figure) bus
Kenchoji stop 2, ¥240 JR to Kita-Kamakura (one stop), then 15 minutes on foot bus out, walk back past Hachimangu
Meigetsuin, Engakuji stop 2, ¥240 / ¥280 JR to Kita-Kamakura, Engakuji is 1 minute from the station JR and walk

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Suica or PASMO on Kamakura buses?

Yes. Enoden Bus accepts PASMO, Suica and the other major IC cards on all its regular routes: tap when you board by the middle door and again when you get off at the front. Adults pay the same fare by cash or IC, ¥240 from Kamakura Station to the Great Buddha, Kenchoji or Meigetsuin.

Which bus stop at Kamakura Station goes to the Great Buddha?

Stop 1 (Enoden Bus) or stop 6 (Keikyu Bus) at the East Exit. Both take about 10 minutes to the Daibutsu-mae stop by the temple gate. The Enoden Bus fare is ¥240; the Keikyu fare shows on the bus display.

Is the Kamakura Free Kankyo Tegata worth it?

Only from four rides in a day. It costs ¥900 and covers the Enoden train between Kamakura and Hase plus Enoden and Keikyu buses to Kita-Kamakura, Daibutsu-mae, Otonomiya, Jomyoji and Nagoe. Two Enoden Bus rides and two Enoden train rides cost ¥880 to ¥920 in single fares, so a lighter day is cheaper with single fares.

How much is the bus for a child in Kamakura?

On Enoden Bus a child aged 6 to 11 pays half the adult cash fare rounded to ¥10 (¥120 on a ¥240 ride), or a flat ¥50 per ride with a child IC card. Children aged 1 to 5 ride free, up to two per paying passenger, and babies under 1 are always free.
