Hakone Venetian Glass Museum (Glass Forest) Tickets 2026: ¥1,800 Adult, ¥100 Off with the Hakone Freepass, Hours, Winter Closure and the Bus from Hakone-Yumoto

Updated 2026-10-21

¥1,800 at the door for an adult, ¥1,700 if you show a Hakone Freepass, and nothing extra if you hold a Hako Ticket. The Hakone Venetian Glass Museum, called Hakone Glass Forest (Hakone Garasu no Mori) on its own signs, sits in Sengokuhara, the flat northern end of Hakone. It opens 10:00–17:30 with last entry at 17:00, and the museum says a normal visit takes about an hour and a half. The bus stop in front is Hyoseki Hakone-garasunomori-mae on the Tozan Bus T line: about 25 minutes from Hakone-Yumoto, 22 from Odawara, 15 from Togendai. I took every number below from the museum's official information page and Hakone Navi (the Odakyu Hakone group's site) and checked them on 2026-10-21.

Hakone Glass Forest tickets side by side: elementary and junior high 600 yen, university and high school 1,300 yen, over 65 1,700 yen, adult 1,800 yen, adult with a Hakone Freepass 1,700 yen, group rate 1,600 yen, Hako Ticket holders 0 yen extra. Preschool children free.
Every age group gets ¥100 off with a Hakone Freepass. The Hako Ticket covers the whole admission.

Ticket prices

Who At the door With a Hakone Freepass Group rate
Adult ¥1,800 ¥1,700 ¥1,600
University and high school students ¥1,300 ¥1,200 ¥1,100
Elementary and junior high school students ¥600 ¥500 ¥500
Over 65 ¥1,700 ¥1,600 –
Preschool children free free free

Family example (2 adults + 2 elementary school children): ¥4,800 at the door (2 × ¥1,800 + 2 × ¥600), or ¥4,400 with a Hakone Freepass for the whole family (¥100 off each of the four tickets). A couple where one person is over 65 pays ¥3,500 at the door and ¥3,300 with the pass.

Opening hours and the winter closure

Arriving at 15:30 still gives you the full hour and a half before last entry. Arriving after 17:00 does not get you in at all, so on a day trip from Tokyo put the museum before Owakudani and Lake Ashi, not after.

What you see

Free music in the museum

The cafe restaurant, Caffe Terrazza Ukai, has a 15-minute live performance every day at 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00 and 16:00. Inside the museum there is a second series on Mondays (violin) and Wednesdays (morin khuur, the Mongolian horse-head fiddle) at 11:30, 12:30, 13:30, 14:30 and 15:30. No fee is listed for either; the museum warns that times can change or be cancelled. If music is the reason you come, aim for a Wednesday and the 12:00 restaurant slot, then the 12:30 museum slot.

The restaurant does not take drink-only orders between 11:00 and 15:00, so plan on a lunch set or a dessert if you sit down for a concert, and it does not split bills.

How to get there

Bus access to Hakone Glass Forest: from Odawara Station platform 4, bus T, about 22 minutes; from Hakone-Yumoto Station platform 3, bus T, about 25 minutes; from Togendai platform 1, bus T, about 15 minutes; all to the Hyoseki Hakone-garasunomori-mae stop. From Gora Station platform 2, bus S, about 15 minutes to the Hakone-garasunomori stop. From Moto-Hakone-ko, bus H about 20 minutes to Hotel-mae, then bus T about 10 minutes. T, S and H lines are covered by the Hakone Freepass. Parking 500 yen per day, a free lot 5 minutes away.
Three of the five routes are the same T line bus. From Gora it is the S line and a different stop name.
From Bus Time Get off at
Hakone-Yumoto Station, platform 3 T (for Togendai) about 25 min Hyoseki Hakone-garasunomori-mae

Coming from Tokyo, the Romancecar or the Odakyu local trains bring you to Hakone-Yumoto: compare them in Tokyo to Hakone by train, or go straight from Shinjuku to Togendai on the highway bus, which passes through Sengokuhara.

Two more museums on the same bus line

Sengokuhara is Hakone's museum district, and the T line serves it. Door prices from our Hakone museums tickets calculator:

Glass Forest and Lalique together cost ¥3,300 at the door or ¥3,000 with a Freepass. Both are on the Hako Ticket; Pola is not.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Hakone Venetian Glass Museum entrance fee?

¥1,800 for adults, ¥1,300 for university and high school students, ¥600 for elementary and junior high school students, ¥1,700 for visitors over 65, and free for preschool children. A Hakone Freepass takes ¥100 off each ticket.

Is the Glass Forest included in the Hakone Freepass?

No. The Freepass covers the T line bus to the door and gives ¥100 off, but you still pay admission. The Hako Ticket, a separate digital pass for 20 Hakone sights, does include the admission.

How long do you need at Hakone Glass Forest?

The museum's own answer is about an hour and a half for the two museums and the garden. Add 30 minutes if you want to sit through a restaurant concert and have lunch.

Is the museum open in January?

Until 11 January 2027, yes. It then closes for 11 days, 12–22 January 2027, following its rule of closing from the day after Coming of Age Day.
